Country Style Donuts is a small local business that has become a well known name in the Sandston and Henrico communities. It was founded in 1968 on a frequently busy road called Williamsburg Road. Even after the construction of Interstate 64, the business still has many loyal customers. The current owners, Steve and Wafaa Nassareddine, came to the U.S from Lebanon and bought the business in 1984. I searched on Google “Country Style Donuts” and came across a few news articles in the Richmond Times Dispatch about this small business. The article I read is about how the business chose to expand to Richmond, VA on West Broad Street. The article is written by Jacob Geiger, a writer for the Richmond Times Dispatch and graduate of Washington and Lee University. The writer, who is also from Virginia, seems to have credibility for what he is writing about because he writes for a local news source. He also has a lot of experience working in the Richmond area. He incorporates logos into his article by including facts about Country Style Donuts like the history of the business and how it got started, and also information about the new location and where it’s at so readers can find it. Even though this article is a news article and full of facts, the writer does persuade the reader in some way. The writer describes the donut shop as being a “staple of mornings” and having “a loyal crowd of customers,” to persuade the reader to go to Country Style Donuts. These descriptions of the business show that it is a key part of the community and very popular amongst locals. The Textalyser results also show that the writer is very knowledgeable on what he wrote about and that the readability is pretty average. Overall, this article does a good job of explaining to the reader the history of Country Style Donuts, the meaning of the business to the community, and the information about the business creating another location in Richmond.
